TAKU ("we" or "us") is a Japanese restaurant at 1608 Polk St, San Francisco, CA 94109, operated by Takuma & Co. LLC. This policy explains what personal information we collect through eattaku.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Opening news sign-up: your email address.
Contact form (Visit page): your first and last name, email address, the topic you choose, your message, and whether you ticked "Sign up for news and updates."
Job application form (Jobs page): your first and last name, email address, the role you're interested in, your message, and anything else you choose to tell us about yourself.
Information collected automatically: like most websites, our website host, Squarespace, records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the site that sent you here. This is done with cookies and similar tools.
How we use it
To send you news about TAKU, such as our opening date, if you signed up.
To reply to your messages.
To review job applications and contact applicants.
To keep the website working and secure, and to understand how many people visit.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with other businesses for their own marketing.
Who we share it with
Squarespace, which hosts our website, stores form submissions, and sends our emails.
Google, which provides the map on our Visit page.
Instagram (Meta), only if you follow a link to our Instagram account. Instagram's own privacy policy applies there.
Others when required: if the law requires it, to protect our rights or safety, or if our business is sold or transferred.
Cookies, other companies' tracking, and Do Not Track
Squarespace and Google may use cookies to collect information about your visit. These companies may collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites. Our website does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Your choices
Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email us to be removed.
To see, correct, or delete the information you've sent us, email us at hello@eattaku.com.
How long we keep it
We keep sign-up emails until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We keep messages and job applications for as long as we need them to respond, or as long as the law requires.
Security
We use well-known service providers and limit who can see your information. Still, no website or email is completely secure.
Children
Our website is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
California residents
California's "Shine the Light" law lets California residents ask whether a business shared their personal information with others for those others' direct marketing. We don't do this. You can contact us with any question about your privacy.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version on this page and update the effective date. If the changes are significant, we'll also tell people on our email list.
